The Simulator consists of an instructor’s workstation and trainee’s workstation.
An instructor can assign a wide range of tasks, control exercise performance, make the exercise conditions more difficult by changing weather conditions, assigning emergencies.
The trainee may complete the tasks using the haul truck simulator controls, perform mined rock loading and unloading operations or perform various maneuvers on the quarry driveways.
Machines Available for Operation:
- Komatsu HD785-7:
- Engine power rating, kW (HP): 895 (1,200)
- Turning radius, m: 10.1
- Maximum load weight, kg: 91,000
- Fuel tank capacity, l: 1,308
- Maximum speed, km/h: 65
Emergencies available for activation by the instructor:
- Service brake failure
- Steering malfunction
- Coolant temperature increase
- Engine oil pressure drop
- Fuel leakage
- Dynamic brake failure
- Fire
Exercises:
Exercise 1. Free driving
- The Instructor can:
- set specific tasks before the trainee;
- set the initial conditions;
- control trainee’s actions.
- The trainee can:
- drive around location freely;
- practice truck driving skills.
Exercise 2. Driving forward and reversing
Drive forward and in reverse along a plain section of a road without hitting cones, prior to which a set of actions to start the engine must be taken.
Exercise 3. Slalom
Drive forward along a plain section of a road steering around delineators.
Exercise 4. Driving along control points in a pit (empty dump body)
Drive along the route from the upper bench to the lower bench with the empty dump body and observing the proper speed limit. There are crossings with dense traffic on the route.
Exercise 5. Driving along control points in a pit (loaded dump body)
Drive along the route from the lower bench to the upper bench with a loaded dump body and observing the proper speed limit. There are crossings with dense traffic on the route.
Exercise 6. Approach for loading
Perform a correct drive up to an excavator for loading, at the same time paying attention to the signals from the excavator operator and to the speed limit.
Exercise 7. Driving up to dump, unloading
Drive up correctly to the protective shoulder and carry out unloading.
Exercise 8. Loading-unloading cycle
Drive along the route from the upper bench to the bottom one up to the loading area, drive up for loading, carry out loading, drive along the route from the bottom bench to the upper one up to the loading area, carry out unloading. Loading must be carried out “for two drive-ups”, i. e. the excavator does loading of vehicles on the right side first, then — on its left. It is a full cycle exercise which is finished using the Cancel the Task button at the instructor workstation.
Exercise 9. Driving in and out of repair bay
Drive along the route up to the repair bay, drive into it in reverse, stop, shutdown the engine, drive out of the repair bay.
Exercise 10. Driving up and off a fuel truck
Drive along the route up to the filling point, approach a fuel truck as close as possible, but not crossing the area restricted by markers, with markers placed 4 meters away from the fuel truck, fill up, drive off the fuel truck.
Exercise 11. Unloading to a bin
Drive up correctly to a bin and carry out unloading.
Exercise 12. Parking for a shift turnover
Drive up to the area with five trucks parked opposite each other, drive into a free spot between two trucks using reversing, park and shutdown the engine.
